Sapa Building Systems' Powerframe Blast Resistant curtain walling and window solution has been specified for a major MOD contract in the UK.

The groundbreaking Project Allenby Connaught is creating a new living and working environment at Garrisons in Aldershot and Salisbury Plain and Sapa’s Powerframe systems will be used in buildings throughout.

The PFI Project is the largest of its kind ever seen in the UK and was awarded to Aspire Defence who worked closely with Sapa to ensure the right specification was achieved to meet the MOD’s requirements.

Blast resistant glazing is a highly specialised market in which Sapa is recognised for their experience and product range, which meant that they could provide a complete project solution for Aspire Defence.

Technical Considerations

Powerframe stands alone as the only product designed from the outset as a dedicated blast resistant window, door and curtain walling system. The system has been used in installations across the UK where there is an obvious risk to human life or where damage from blasts could cause serious financial loss to organisations.

Powerframe provides protection through the membrane action of varying thicknesses of laminated glass and its ability to transmit complex loads to perimeter fixings via the frame members of the windows and doors.

Protection Specialists

The threats that buildings and their occupants need to be protected from is apparent in our everyday news, be it the unpleasant face of terrorism or the unexpected accidents that occur at oil and gas sites such as the Buncefield depot.

At Sapa Building Systems we have built an unrivalled range of products that offer an effective line of defence in the event of a building coming under deliberate or accidental threat. By introducing this protection into a building’s design specification you are providing the best possible protection to buildings and, most importantly, the people that work in them.

The breadth of our range is unique which ultimately means that you will not have to compromise at any stage of your design nor look to multiple suppliers to satisfy your design’s ultimate requirements.
