As part of a refurbishment programme carried out by the Royal Borough Council of Kensington & Chelsea to improve the aesthetic appearance of the area, a housing estate in West London has benefited from the installation of Sapa Building Systems' Monaframe windows and doors.

Kennedy Hayward, the contract administrators for the Portobello Court housing estate, specified up to 1500 specially designed Monaframe casement windows and residential doors. Fabricated and installed by Euro Windows the project comprised one eight storey, three five storey and one four storey block of flats.

The existing steel-framed windows required replacement to introduce modern standards of safety, security and weather performance. Of particular importance to the project were the visual aspects of the fenestration, which necessitated bringing forward the development and introduction of a new type of frame, unique to the project, to meet the council's specific requirements.

Technical Aspects
Portobello Court is situated in an architecturally sensitive area, and the replacement of steel windows called for a system with very slim profiles. Our internally beaded vent system was specially enhanced to achieve this specification, thus ensuring the fenestration was in keeping with the style of the building without compromising on security.
